History:

The history of Baglung dates back to the Licchavi period. According to local legends, the district was named after a Baglung prince named Vaglunga. In the 17th century, the district was ruled by the Khas kingdom of Palpa. Later, it became a part of the Gorkha kingdom and was ruled by the Shah dynasty. During the Rana regime, Baglung was a part of the western region of Nepal. After the fall of the Rana regime, it became a separate district in 1962.
